  • Carlie can make $20 stretch for a week (in this economy?!) with creative, homemade meals every day.
  • She likes to believe she has tried every Cubano sandwich available on a menu in Miami.
  • Carlie finds the best hole-in-the-wall establishments in every city she visits. If it's in a basement or has a sticky floor, the drinks and food are probably unmatched.

Experience

Carlie has written for a number of online publications, including CinemaBlend, Looper, and Explore. Before her writing career, though, she was in the food and hospitality industry. She has worked in esteemed country clubs, luxury hotels, and mangy biker bars. Carlie started writing features for Mashed in 2024, combining her love of all types of food and drink with that of the written word.

Education

In 2017 Carlie graduated with a bachelor's degree in creative advertising from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she studied copywriting. She has been a freelance copy and content writer since 2019, working with a number of large brands and female led small businesses.
