Starbucks Happy Hour Is Back. Here's What You Need To Know

Remember way back in the good old days of last winter, where you could walk into just about any Starbucks anywhere and, for a few magical hours each week, there's be a BOGO deal on some type of drink? Well, this deal is back, baby! Let's sing a song of cheer again, happy hours are here again!

Wait, happy what? If it's been so long you can't even remember what Starbucks' happy hour is all about, here's a quick recap. On Thursday, June 18 (that's today!), participating Starbucks will be offering a two-for-one deal on any and all "handcrafted beverages." In case you're wondering just which menu items qualify as being bespoke bevvies, "handcrafted" just means anything put together by a barista.

So, no bottled Frappuccinos, but if you're in-store anyway, wouldn't you rather order a delicious S'mores Frap or one of their other summertime treats? You can also catch up with the recent springtime menu additions like the Pineapple Matcha and Golden Ginger Drinks, or you could (if you've got a lot of nerve) even risk your barista's annoyance by ordering one (or two) of the "secret menu" items like the new Cap'n Crunch Frappuccino.

How you'll be ordering your happy hour drinks

Starbucks' happy hour, like just about everything else, may look a little bit different these days. While Starbucks stores have been gradually re-opening over the past few weeks, the Starbucks website notes that not all locations may be fully open to the public yet, and some could still be operating on a drive-thru-only basis. Still, other locations may require you to order in advance on the website or using the app, and then pick up your order at the door. Other locations, sadly, may have closed for good.

Even those Starbucks now allowing walk-ins may be limiting orders to grab-and-go, although there are a few locations where in-store and outdoor seating may be available subject to proper social distancing measures. Starbucks strongly suggests you call ahead to check on the situation with your local Starbucks if you plan to be ordering (much less hanging out) in the store. They would also appreciate it very much if you would use a contact-free payment method such as a Starbucks card linked to the app.

Oh, and don't forget to sign up for the Starbucks rewards program, if you haven't already done so. That way, you can not only pay safe, but also earn points towards free food and drinks as your reward for being a good citizen (as well as a loyal Starbucks customer).
