Contrary to the beliefs of Karens nationwide, most food service workers don't have the time, energy, or desire to mess with customers' orders or cheat them out of money. However, online orders do feel more detached than ordering in-person, creating feelings of suspicion on the customer's part — and eaters at Chipotle might have a reason to feel that way.
A TikTok video posted by one Chipotle customer alleges that their store location — if not the entire company — could be scheming to give customers less food than they expect for their money. "I caught Chipotle firsthand making online orders with only half-spoons," the TikToker wrote. "Y'all should have seen the bowl before this [...] it was worse."
The TikToker, "slackedstacked," filmed a Chipotle employee assembling orders using "half-spoons" — not full, heaping spoons — of ingredients, using less meat in burritos and bowls that were paid for at full price. Some commenters were shocked by the video, but others said they already suspected this behavior from the fast-casual chain.
"They have been doing this for years," TikToker "User123" commented. "Even if you get double protein they do this. It's bc they don't want to make new meat or wait on new meat." User "Catrina" added, "That's why I stopped ordering online. They play games when you not there watching them make it."
