Add Flour To French Toast Batter For A Fluffier Texture
by NICK PISANO
Combining pillowy bread with sweet, eggy batter is as simple as it is delicious, but an easy addition can elevate your French toast to a whole different level.
Simply whisking in some flour thickens the egg-and-milk-based mix, transforming it into a more traditional batter. Naturally, this helps it cling better to each piece.
All that's needed is a quarter cup for a mixture used on eight slices of bread. With more batter on the outside, each piece develops an extra-pillowy, fluffy, flavorful coating.
While ordinary all-purpose flour will work great for this method, you could get the same benefit from alternative flours or even gluten-free ones.
