Delicious Sauces You've Never Thought To Put On Steak
By JENNIFER EAGER
Horseradish Sauce
The ingredients for this sauce include sour cream, heavy cream, mayonnaise, or strained Greek yogurt, a dollop of horseradish, lemon or vinegar, fresh herbs, and spices for this sauce. Creamy horseradish sauce will keep in the refrigerator for a week.
Gorgonzola Sauce
Gorgonzola’s sharp flavor is nicely balanced in a creamy sauce. To make this sauce, sauté garlic in butter, add cream and a squeeze of lemon, cook over low heat until thickened, turn off the heat, add the cheese and stir until it melts.
Red Wine Sauce
This classic sauce creates a perfect balance with the steak and is a terrific choice for steaks seared on the stove. Residue from the meat enriches the sauce, as will butter, shallots, fresh herbs, red wine, mushrooms, ketchup, Worcestershire, vinegar, and brown sugar.
Chimichurri
This Argentinian sauce may look like pesto, but it's greener due to parsley and uses sunflower oil instead of olive oil. Add vinegar, lime juice, garlic, and chili peppers to make it a subtly zingy sauce that enhances steak without overwhelming it, and store in the fridge for up to five days.
Yum Yum Sauce
Yum Yum is a North American sauce created by Japanese steakhouses, and a homemade one can be stored in the fridge for a week. The ingredients include mayonnaise, tomato paste, melted butter, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, sugar, apple cider vinegar, and water for consistency.
