Give Chocolate Chip Cookies A Chewy Boost With One Ingredient
by NAOMI KENNEDY
It is difficult to achieve the desired consistency of chocolate chip cookies; however, adding a small amount of agave syrup to the recipe will significantly enhance the chewiness.
Agave syrup's high fructose content allows it to retain moisture effectively. This results in moist, chewy cookies reminiscent of store-bought ones.
It's not that simple to swap white sugar for agave; since agave is sweeter, you'll need less of it in the recipe. Sub in ¾ cup of agave syrup for every cup of white sugar.
Prevent your dough from being too runny by reducing the amount of each liquid the recipe calls for by two tablespoons, or add a tablespoon of flour for every ¼ cup of agave syrup.
