Gourmet Dinner Party Recipes To Impress Your Guests
By NADS WILLOW
1. Lobster Bisque
For a silky, luxurious, and sumptuous lobster bisque, use butterflied lobsters or frozen lobster meat — just make sure to thaw it out before cooking. Add a swirl of thickened cream, put in your lobster meat with chopped parsley, and serve with fresh French bread, croutons, or crackers.
2. Smoked Salmon Sushi
For a dish that looks like a culinary work of art, make smoked salmon and avocado sushi, served with soy sauce, fiery wasabi, and pickled ginger. Chill the sushi rolls in the fridge before cutting, and keep the avocado looking fresh with a squirt of lemon juice before you roll it.
3. Crab Cakes
Crab cakes are delicious and delectable appetizers that can easily be made in a large batch and frozen for a weekday family dinner, gourmet-style. Add some Old Bay seasoning to enhance the flavor, as well as some buttery cracker crumbs in place of breadcrumbs for some extra taste.
4. Cioppino
Clams, shell-on mussels, shrimp, and cod are the usual ingredients in Cioppino, but you can switch them up with crab, scallops, haddock, or skin-off salmon in place of the cod. If you’re using fresh seafood, make sure to debeard the mussels, and use peeled and deveined raw shrimp.
5. Scallops
Gordon Ramsey’s scallops recipe is amazing and easy to make, taking only 1-2 minutes to cook per side. The flavor of the scallops works beautifully with lemon zest, olive oil, and black pepper, and you can serve them with Boston lettuce, snow peas or sugar snap peas, and sliced radish.
