Here's What Happened After Horse Meat Was Found In Burger King Whoppers

Although fast-food companies adhere to strict regulations on food safety, some rare incidents reveal unsavory meats in their products. Burger King is no exception.

A food scandal of epic proportions rocked Europe in 2013 when they found out that the "beef" in some of their food was horse meat. An investigation in Ireland traced the meat back to Silvercrest, a meat supplier from Poland who also supplied for Burger King.

Although authorities vowed there was “no health danger to consumers,” the fast-food giant nonetheless stopped working with the supplier. Diego Beamonte, vice president for global quality at Burger King, apologized to customers in response to the scandal.
