How Canned Evaporated Milk Creates Restaurant-Worthy Cheese Dip
By NAOMI KENNEDY
Evaporated milk is needed for high-quality cheese dip. Unlike condensed milk, evaporated milk has a lower water content, along with higher fat and protein levels that make it smooth.
You can make cheese dip at home with a block of cheddar cheese, evaporated milk, cornstarch, and hot sauce. First, shred the cheese and mix it with the cornstarch to thicken it.
Add the cornstarch-coated cheese to a saucepan with the evaporated milk and hot sauce. Cook on low heat and stir until everything is melted. If it gets too thick, add milk.
Once the sauce is at your desired consistency, it's ready to enjoy with chips, potatoes, or anything else your heart desires to cover in liquid cheese.
