For example, if you're looking for items that you aren't too particular about, purchase cheaper generic items, but stay away from the Great Value brand due to its "lackluster" quality for the price.

CNBC recommends stocking up on affordable Walmart items like snacks and cereals, but it also suggests purchasing Great Value products, such as spices and other look-alikes, as a majority of them are made by the same manufacturers of name-brand products, such as Cool Whip. Shopping at Walmart is fine, but avoid taking the "low prices" claim at face value.
