Is Rice Actually All You Need To Bring Dull Knives Back To Life?
by KATY CANADA
If you've noticed that your kitchen knives feel dull on the chopping board, try sharpening them with rice. To do so, simply store your knives in dry, uncooked rice when not in use.
Get a box that's large enough to hold however many knives you own, and fill it to the brim with uncooked rice. Then, submerge your blades in the rice for storage.
For additional sharpening, repeatedly thrust the blades in and out of the rice, which will both hone and improve them. You can sharpen your blender blades with rice, as well.
The rice will also help soak up any residual moisture on your knives, which will prevent the accumulation of mold and rust.
