Is V8 Actually Healthy For You?
By RACHAEL GROW
At 45 calories with no added sugar, Campbell's V8 Original 100% Vegetable Juice is a blend of tomatoes, beets, watercress, spinach, carrots, celery, lettuce, and parsley.
That’s a lot of veggies packed into one can, but V8 can never beat the real thing. It has an extremely high sodium content, which can be bad news for your blood pressure and heart.
You can switch over to the Low Sodium V8, which has 140mg of sodium compared to the classic drink's 640, but you still wouldn’t be getting the fiber you would from raw produce.
High Fiber V8 delivers 20% of your body's Daily Recommended Value of fiber, but eating whole veggies will still always be healthier than consuming them in liquid form.
All the vitamins, minerals, and fiber found in fresh produce are highly beneficial to bodily functions, so try not to let V8 become a full-blown replacement for real vegetables.
