Nigella Lawson's Spaghetti Recipe Uses An Unexpected Ingredient
By HOPE NGO
Martha Stewart’s Marmite, made with brewer’s yeast and rich in Vitamin B narrowly escaped being turned into an exhibit for the Disgusting Food Museum in Sweden. Despite knowing the controversial effect of the item, Stweart tweeted a recipe for pasta with Marmita, “#RecipeOfTheDay is Spaghetti with Marmite!”
The straightforward recipe needs just a few ingredients: spaghetti, Marmite/Vegemite, unsalted butter, and freshly grated parmesan cheese. Lawson adds that she ate “shortcut versions of this in Italy” that use “crumbled stock cube, along with some butter, olive oil, chopped rosemary and a little of the pasta cooking water to make a flavoursome sauce for spaghetti.”
Regardless of how Lawson presented her dish, social media was divided over the use of Marmite to spruce up spaghetti. While one Lawson fan tweeted, “This is one of my favourite things! [...] I love it!”, another was not so amicable and shared: “You either love it or you hate it. Sorry but I hate it.”
