Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond has some strong opinions about breakfast foods, specifically chocolate chip pancakes, which she hates. Drummond likes to eat a hearty McDonald’s breakfast feast, but she found her favorite breakfast while traveling.
While in Austin, Texas, Drummond enjoyed her first plate of Migas, and it was love at first bite. This iconic breakfast dish comprises scrambled eggs, bell peppers, jalapeños, onions, cheese, and fried and chopped corn tortillas.
Migas, which means “crumbs” in Spanish, was invented by people with little money who did not want to let stale tortilla chips go to waste. Drummond loves this dish so much that she developed the recipe for her Mercantile store with "guac, sour cream, Pico de Gallo, and breakfast potatoes."
