Skillet Lasagna Is A No-Bake Version On The Italian Classic
by JONATHAN GARCIA
One-pan lasagna by Mashed Recipe Developer, Kristen Carli, is a straightforward way to replicate classic lasagna while majorly cutting down on prep and clean-up time.
For a similar flavor to traditional lasagna, this recipe utilizes a pot or pan that has great heat retention, like cast iron. If you don't have cast iron, any skillet will suffice.
To perfect this recipe, be sure to first build up a nice fond (a tasty brown crust) at the base of the skillet after the meat has had the water cooked out.
Once you see the fond and the beef is no longer pink, add the liquid ingredients to deglaze the pan and reincorporate all the flavor of the fond.
If you're using cast iron, sprinkle a layer of mozzarella on top of the lasagna mixture and stick the pot or skillet under the broiler for a few minutes.
