Subway No Bready Bowls: What To Know Before Ordering
By CLARA OLSHANSKY
Subway’s No Bready Bowls are the bread-free way to enjoy the chain's meat and cheese combinations, with the ingredients being served in a salad-like bowl, instead of a sandwich. According to a Subway spokesperson, this is "a protein bowl with the same portion of protein, vegetables, cheese and sauce, just without the bread."
Originally debuting as the Protein Bowl in December 2020, there are a whopping 21 customizable options, ranging from steak and turkey "Cali Fresh" options to rotisserie chicken and Meatball Marinara. Ultimately, the No Bready bowl is a lower-carb option, but it has a lot more sodium than a sandwich.
While prices vary by location, the No Bready Bowls can cost a bit more than the six-inch sandwich options — the Grilled Chicken No Bready Bowl in North Carolina costs $8.69, while a six-inch Grilled Chicken Sandwich costs $5.69, and a footlong costs $8.69. Although the exact prices may vary, the prices of Subway's No Bready Bowls are closer to the footlongs.
Judging by customer comments, the No Bready Bowls are a hit, with one tweet from December 2021 saying, “Subway's sweet onion teriyaki chicken 'no bready bowl' is pretty good!” However, one customer lamented the lack of a “double meat” option when ordering the item, tweeting, “Subway WTF??? Can't order my usual double meat protein bowl.”
