Taco Bell's Ground Beef Isn't 100% Beef, According To TikTok
By GILLIAN KING
No one claims fast food is healthy, but it’s probably even unhealthier than you think. From toxic wrappers and containers to dubious meats, you can’t be sure what you’re getting when you eat fast food, like Taco Bell’s ground beef, which one former employee just revealed isn’t actually 100% beef.
One former Taco Bell employee took to TikTok to reveal that Taco Bell’s beef is only 88% beef. While the Taco Bell website claims that the meat mixture starts with 100% ground beef, the meat is then packed with fillers like oats, soy lecithin, cellulose (AKA wood pulp), maltodextrin, torula yeast, and modified corn starch.
Despite the controversy around these additives, Taco Bell has continued to use them, explaining that they maintain the meat’s texture and balance out flavor and color, adding that all are safe and FDA-approved. Most people don’t seem bothered by the information, with one TikTok user saying, “I eat it anyway. I never expected it to be real food.”
