The 12 Most Overrated Items At Aldi
By RYAN UNGER
Chicken Wings
Aldi’s Kirkwood chicken wings aren’t quite as satisfying as the picture on the packaging makes them out to be. The skin on the outside is rubbery most of the time, there are a lot of dry spots, there’s no savoriness, and cold spots are common despite being cooked all the way through.
Bacon Wrapped Beef
Wrapping things in bacon is awesome, yet Aldi manages to miss the mark with their Cattleman’s Ranch Bacon Wrapped Beef Chuck Filet. The meat gets tough very quickly, unless you're super precise with grilling, and the bacon used to wrap each filet is just bland and not that flavorful.
Pork Sausage
The Appleton Farms Premium Pork Sausage Roll at Aldi is basically a very large sausage that you can slice with ease and with no mess, and it smells great when you cook it, too. However, eating the sausage itself is a huge challenge, as it’s extremely salty and nearly inedible.
Mediterranean Salmon
Although Aldi’s Mediterranean Crusted Atlantic Salmon Filet looks appealing, the spices caked on top of the filet don’t really pack much of a flavor. While the salmon itself isn't a letdown, the fact that there’s no kick from the herbs and spices covering the crust is a big disappointment.
Croissant Sandwich
You’re better off making your own breakfast sandwich rather than getting the Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Croissant Breakfast Sandwich at Aldi. The croissants, instead of being flaky and tender, are gummy and flavorless, while the egg and sausage are almost always cold in the center.
