The 2022 NYC Michelin Stars Are Finally Here
By SOPHIA LO
The Michelin Guide recently released its 2022 list of Michelin-star restaurants in New York City, and it offers interested diners a lot of ground to cover. The five restaurants that held onto their three stars from previous years include The Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare, Eleven Madison Park, LeBernardin, Per Se, and Masa (currently the most expensive restaurant in the U.S.).
Nineteen new restaurants in neighborhoods across Manhattan and Brooklyn were awarded Michelin stars. Seventeen restaurants on the list that won a single star, signaling they’re likely to be more affordable than three star-restaurants, include Clover Hill, Semma, and Joomak Banjum, which also boasts the 2022 Pastry Chef of the year: Kelly Nam.
Notable details from this year’s list include Eleven Madison Park retaining its three Michelin stars after cutting all meat from its menu, and certain restaurants, like the historic steakhouse Peter Luger, not making the cut at all. Receiving a Michelin star is certainly an honor, but there are still plenty of great restaurants without one.
