The Aldi Ice Dessert That Just Returned To Shelves
By MARGARET MCCORMICK
With the arrival of fall, the sight of pumpkins, autumn leaves, and holiday displays at stores may kill your cravings for ice cream and other frozen treats. Discount grocery chain Aldi, however, hopes they don’t, because it recently brought a popular frozen treat back to the store.
The Sundae Shoppe Donut Bars on a stick are returning to Aldi, and these donut-in-name-only novelties come in two varieties — strawberry, and chocolate and vanilla. There are four to a box, priced at around $2.99 per box, and will be available for a limited time, while supplies last.
Although the treats look like donut-flavored ice cream, they are neither. The strawberry version is described as a "strawberry flavored ice dessert" covered with pink-tinted white confectioners glaze, while the chocolate and vanilla variety features vanilla ice dessert with vanilla flavored coating and with chocolate flavored coating.
