Whether Dollar Tree is selling products for $1 or $1.25, you might have wondered if the low prices are actually a better deal in the long run — and the answer to the question depends on the type of product you're asking about. That one type of food that is always more affordable is candy.
You can stock up on candy at dollar stores for way less than you could at typical grocery stores. Consumer analyst Julie Ramhold says, "Dollar stores have various candies for great prices, even if they aren't just $1 each. Because of the cheap cost, you can easily stock up on a variety of kinds to make goodie bags for parties, create a candy board or anything in between."
Dollar stores can be more affordable for many reasons — it could be because the offered product is damaged or not as fresh, or because a company has overstock items. However, most of the time, it's because they operate on slimmer margins than traditional grocery stores, as they pay much lower rent and have fewer staff members.
