The Fast-Food Chain That's Lauded As One Of The 'Best Workplaces'
By CHASE SHUSTACK
Working in the fast food industry isn't exactly something most people consider a "dream job," or even a job they'd want to do at all, for that matter. But what if it turned out that a fast-food restaurant wasn't only a good but a great place to work at in reality?
This seems to be the case for White Castle, as Fortune listed the chain as one of the recipients of the "Great Place to Work" title, making it the only restaurant chain among the 20 companies in the list. This is the second time in a row that White Castle has won such an honor, and apparently, the chain earned this honor through two key concepts: relationships and respect.
John Kelley, the chain’s chief people officer, explains that relationships and respect are critical to employee and customer operations in its workplace. Though employees have shared both positive and negative reviews on Indeed, according to data gathered by Great Place to Work, 80% of employees consider working at White Castle better than working at other U.S.-based companies.
