The Huge Gift David Spade Gave A Viral Burger King Employee
By KIMBERLEY LAWS
A bag containing a movie ticket, two Lifesaver rolls, a bag of Reese's, a cup, a lanyard, and a few other token trinkets is what HMS Host, a company that places restaurants in travel spaces, gave an employee named Kevin Ford for working 27 years in a row without a single day off, even during the pandemic. 54-year-old Ford is an employee at the Burger King location in Las Vegas.
The viral video of Ford opening his gift shows Ford to be genuinely grateful for the recognition — but when Hollywood star David Spade saw the video and learned that Ford's daughter had set up a GoFundMe page to help him visit his kids and grandchildren in Texas, he made a $5,000 donation. Spade also texted Ford on Instagram, saying, "Keep up the good work."
When Ford, a huge fan of Spade, thanked the star and said he may take a day off, Spade told him to wait until his 30th anniversary. Burger King has reportedly said that Ford's gift bag was a "peer-to-peer reward in recognition of a short-term positive performance/experience." Ford's GoFundMe page currently sits at $56,306 — enough for him to buy his dream Ford hybrid vehicle as well.
