When Taco Bell's Mexican Pizza returned in May of 2022, a deluge of orders wiped out the chain's entire supply of the menu item in less than three weeks. Due to supply chain issues, Taco Bell has announced that they won't be able to offer Mexican Pizza again until autumn of 2022 — but could the void be filled by a new menu item?
Taco Bell's new $3.99 Cheesy Chipotle Chicken Flatbread features marinated flame-grilled chicken, Creamy Chipotle sauce, tortilla strips, onion, and three types of cheese (plus optional jalapeños) on a "buttery" flatbread. Cut into triangular slices, the menu item has a striking resemblance to pizza, similar to the dearly departed Mexican Pizza.
The Cheesy Chipotle Chicken Flatbread is available exclusively in Charlotte, North Carolina for the time being, but if the locals are into it, Taco Bell may launch the item nationwide. The flatbread may differ from the Mexican Pizza in terms of flavor and ingredients, but it may find success as its own unique offering, if not an imitation of its predecessor.
