The Real Reason You Never See Sunny Anderson's Real Kitchen

Fans of “The Kitchen” have been complaining on Reddit about Sunny Anderson always cooking outdoors. In response to many fans’ comments on an Instagram post, Anderson said she likes her privacy and doesn’t feel shooting inside her home is a requisite of the job.

Despite fans’ worries, Anderson kept cooking outdoors through the winter, revealing over Instagram how she stays warm, and saying she prefers cooking outside for safety reasons. Anderson later mentioned that she and the cameraman suffer from autoimmune issues, so cooking outdoors is really about health.

Although Anderson hasn’t publicly discussed this as her reason for precaution, Black people in America face higher rates of hospitalization and death due to COVID-19, per NPR. Additionally, being a resident of New York City — the epicenter of the pandemic — makes her more susceptible.
