The Secret To Buying Quality Pasta Sauce, According To Chef Fabio Viviani
By ELISE DEVOE

Celebrity chef and founder of JARS Fabio Viviani has solidified himself as an authority on Italian cuisine, and he has strong opinions on how Italian recipes should be executed. He told Insider that he prefers using canned tomatoes for his pasta sauce, especially outside of peak tomato season.

The few different brands of sauces from the grocery store he recommends are Rao’s, Lucini, Barilla, and Buitoni. "Go with some people that have done it for their whole lives," Viviani told Mashed in an exclusive interview, “[the] company, whether they're small or big, they are known for that kind of sauce."

According to various internet rankings, Rao’s often comes up as the number one pick among chefs and home cooks alike. Viviani does add, however, that at the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference, saying that, "Some of my friends, they love Prego sauce."
