The Secret To Chinese Restaurant-Style Green Beans Is The Sauce
by NICK PISANO
Chinese restaurant-style green beans are simple to DIY at home. While they taste complex, they only require three main ingredients: garlic, soy sauce, and oyster sauce.
With a naturally fresh and light flavor, green beans are an ideal pairing with a sticky, umami, and garlic-rich sauce, as they’re prepared at a Chinese restaurant.
Saute the beans with minced garlic, infusing a nutty and slight crunch into the dish. Combine equal portions of soy and oyster sauces and pour over the beans.
The stove’s heat will reduce these liquids while caramelizing their sugars on the surface of the green beans. When cooked down, the sauce will thicken and stick.
