The Truth About Matthew Kenney From Bad Vegan

Kenney grew up on the coast of Maine in the town of Searsport, living an outdoorsy life that even involved hunting. He once worked at meat-centric restaurants in the state after attending the French Culinary Institute and for a time owned a vegan restaurant, The Gothic, in Belfast, Maine.

Raised Outdoors

In 2021, Kenney launched Xfood, a vegan-based food delivery service initially operating out of Los Angeles. The service features meals produced using a no-waste food initiative and packaged using environmentally friendly materials.

Food Delivery

Kenney founded Plant City, the "world's first vegan food hall and marketplace." It features four vegan restaurants, a coffee shop, a commissary kitchen, an event space, and a communal area for cooking classes and meditation sessions.

Owns Plant City

Kenney runs the Food Future Institute, a vegan culinary education program that operates online and on-site in Venice, California. The online class allows students to progress at their own pace with various educational videos, while the on-site campus classrooms include the finest cooking equipment.

Owns A School

Kenney has written 12 cookbooks and a memoir entitled “Cooked Raw.” His first cookbook, "Big City Cooking," is a guide on how to use and prepare the best and freshest ingredients available in large cities.
