Think Twice Before Ordering Hash Browns At Waffle House
by BRYNNA STANDEN
Despite Waffle House’s name, the hash browns, not the waffles, keep customers returning. However, a former employee on Reddit said the hash browns came dehydrated.
The former employee explained that the dehydrated potatoes had to be soaked in water for a few hours before getting cooked. Some Redditors defended them, but others didn’t.
Dehydration removes moisture, prevents spoilage, and provides a longer shelf life of one to two years. This is in contrast to fresh potatoes, which last only two months.
Once rehydrated, they provide the same taste, texture, and nutrition as fresh potatoes, which makes them an excellent source of potassium, vitamin C, and fiber.
