This Could Be What's Causing That Weird Smell In Your Air Fryer
By EMILY WEAVER
As with all other newly-bought home appliances, air fryers, too, can often have a weird plastic smell that can seep into your food. This smell is due to a "protective coating" on the plastic parts of your air fryer, but, luckily, there are a few home remedies that can help you get rid of it.
The first method is to deep clean the multiple components per the manual's instructions. You can also drizzle oil on the inner walls of the fryer before turning it on, or make an odor freshener with "[one] part distilled vinegar and [one] part lemon juice," and run it in the machine for two minutes.
After the initial unboxing, run the air fryer for 15 to 20 minutes to release the fumes, then clean it for good measure. Finally, triple-check that you’ve removed all stickers, protective shields, and packaging pieces before using the fryer, but if the smell still lingers, contact the seller for a refund or replacement.
