This Is What Sunny Anderson Says You Should Do With Stale Donuts
By AMANDA TARLTON
It’s no secret that Americans love donuts, and while everyone knows that they are best enjoyed hot and fresh, celebrity chef Sunny Anderson recently shared a hack to enjoy stale donuts. According to Anderson, all you need is a waffle maker, a donut or two, and a few minutes to make donut waffles.
“Buy day-old donuts and put em in a waffle iron,” tweeted Anderson. While donut waffles already sound delicious, Anderson recommends taking it to the next level by adding a scoop of ice cream, but it isn’t necessary to enjoy this decadent dish that’s “crispy and cushy at the same time.”
However, Anderson isn’t the only person to make donut waffles — the blogger at Cooking with Janica says she’s done it, too. She recommends cooking the donuts in the waffle maker for two minutes, and her toppings of choice include sprinkles, whipped cream, caramel, maple syrup, and ice cream.
