What Happened To Bantam Bagels After Shark Tank?
By GILLIAN KING
Nick and Elyse Oleksak appeared on “Shark Tank” in Season 6, Episode 13 to elicit an offer for their company, Bantam Bagels, which specializes in bite-sized bagels filled with cream cheese. After receiving two not very generous offers, the couple accepted an offer from Lori Greiner for $275,000 for a 25% stake.
The company took off for a while, at one point its product was available in over 21,000 stores, including Stop & Shop, Wegmans, Safeway, and other national grocery chains. The company expanded with three product lines: the classic bagel bites, egg bites (stuffed with scrambled eggs and cheese), and stuffed dough ball "pizzas."
In 2018, the company sold for $34 million to the T. Marzetti Company, with the Oleksaks staying on in a creative capacity, however, this spring the investing corporation divested itself of the Bantam Bagels claiming it has "no foreseeable path to profitability." Despite losing its backers, Bantam Bagels can still be found in supermarkets and online, but their socials have been inactive, so they may not be around long.
