What Happened To Tailgate N Go After Shark Tank?
By JENNIFER MATHEWS
In 2019, Colorado’s Ron, Taylor, and Kobe Johnson pitched the all-in-one kitchen and dry box Tailgate N Go on Shark Tank and managed to strike a deal with Matt Higgins, for $250,000 in exchange for 20% equity and an additional $50 royalty for each unit sold. Three years after airing, how is the company doing now?
Within a few months of their “Shark Tank” appearance, Johnson's Tailgate N Go made $400,000 in sales, a 60% increase per Shark Tank Recap. Although COVID affected some channels the family planned on using to market their product, like canceled trade shows, Tailgate N Go is still going strong with a reported net worth of $1 million, as of August 2022.
In 2021, Higgins — the chairman of the Miami Dolphins — worked out a licensing deal with the NFL, allowing the Tailgate N Go boxes to display your favorite team’s colors and logo, and personally customize them with your business logo. Tailgate N Go can be purchased on the company's website, which also offers accessories for the boxes.
