What MasterChef Winner Luca Manfe Is Doing Now
By LIZ BARRETT FOSTER
Italian-born MasterChef season four (2013) winner Luca Manfé was the first male, and the first non-American, to win the competition. The year following his win, Manfé released his cookbook called "My Italian Kitchen: Favorite Family Recipes from the Winner of MasterChef Season 4 on FOX" and was recruited as a brand ambassador for pizza oven company Donna Italia in 2018.
During the airing of his season on MasterChef, Manfé started his own catering company, Dinner with Luca, through which he traveled the country and Canada, cooking for small and large groups. Manfé says that The Lucky Fig, a food truck that he started after MasterChef, was a disaster as the high-end Italian food he was serving wasn't the right concept for a food truck.
After trying to make it work for about a year, Manfé closed the food truck and has been offering online cooking classes and filming recipes to post on his website (Dinner with Luca) throughout the pandemic. Today, with no plans for a second cookbook, Manfé lives in a tiny home in Texas, with his wife Cate and two sons, saying that his family is now his priority.
