Valerie Bertinelli and Tom Vitale, her husband of 10 years, filed for legal separation just before the 2021 Thanksgiving holidays. Per the filed paperwork, the couple split over irreconcilable differences, with both prenuptial agreement terms honored and no spousal support for either party.
It’s been a tough few years for Bertinelli, between the separation from Vitale and the loss of her ex-husband, Eddie Van Halen, but she says she has found new ways to push forward. Close friend Rachael Ray calls Bertinelli a “strong woman” who will “[come] back swinging.”
In 2022, Bertinelli will return to the judges table on the 10th season of “Kids Baking Championship,” and she will also release her new book, "Enough Already: Learning to Love the Way I Am Today." Whether or not the book will discuss her separation from Vitale remains to be seen.
After previously avoiding discussing her separation, Bertinelli candidly answered a fan's question during a promotion for her new book. Bertinelli said that love alone might not be enough and that she still doesn’t know what makes a marriage work.
Bertinelli has been opening up about her painful childhood experiences recently via Instagram. It’s unclear whether her past troubles have had an impact on her relationships, or whether they will be discussed in her new book, but hopefully better times lie ahead for Bertinelli.
