There's no denying that slow cookers can be incredibly helpful when plating a delicious home-cooked meal on a busy weekday. However, one step is to consider adding to the slow cooking process before tossing the meat.
Searing the raw meat before adding it to the slow cooker will enhance the meat’s flavor. The browning adds those significant bits of caramelization to the meat's surface, which "will lend a rich flavor to the finished dish."
For this process, allow the meat to come to room temperature and dry the surface by patting it with a paper towel. Then place the meat in a pan pre-heated to a high temperature, and allow it to be brown undisturbed for a few minutes before tossing the meat into the slow cooker.
