Why Bar Rescue's Jon Taffer Is Feeling The Heat For His Restaurant
By GABRIELA IZQUIERDO
Having spent more than a decade rescuing bars from the brink of disaster on his show, “Bar Rescue,” Jon Taffer finally became a bar owner. In 2020 he opened Taffer’s Tavern in Alpharetta, Georgia, and two other locations since then, all incorporated with his own crafted cutting-edge technology and systems.
While talking to People, Taffer opened up about the pressure of running a bar that has “to be perfect all the time,” adding, “I've got a great team of people around me.” However, Taffer feels the heat of being a bar owner whose fame depends on being a bar expert, as he places his reputation at stake with the franchise.
While the original Alpharetta location has 4.3 out of 5 stars on Google reviews, it scored three stars on Yelp, with Washingtonian saying that Tavern’s cocktails were similar to the sickly sweet drinks from college parties. The District Fray, on the other hand, concluded that they’d bring their parents to the Tavern, but not their foodie friends.
