Why McDonald's Employees Can't Accept Tips

It’s no secret that McDonald’s is one of the most successful businesses in the world, with roughly $40 billion worth of items being sold solely in the United States in 2019. Following it in second place is Starbucks, earning around $21 billion that same year.

Fast-food workers are often worked to the bone and are paid minimum wage to serve millions of hungry customers each and every year. Because of this, some patrons may want to tip a McDonald’s employee, but unfortunately, these workers aren’t allowed to accept tips.

According to a Reddit user from the UK, McDonald’s employees are never allowed to accept tips, no matter the amount, as it is considered theft. Allegedly, if an employee is given extra money, they are to place it in their store’s charity box.
