Why TikTok Thinks Celsius Energy Drinks Might Be Dangerous
By SAVANNA SWAIN-WILSON

One of the many popular energy drinks in the market today is Celsius, a drink most fitness buffs prefer due to the use of "healthier" ingredients like green tea, ginger, and guarana, and that it can clinically boost metabolism. However, TikToker Nick Errante shared a not-so-good experience with his habitual Celsius drinking.

The video begins with Errante taking a mirror selfie, captioning that he has been drinking Celsius before every workout, then cuts to him at a doctor's office with electrocardiogram cables strapped to his chest. The video has been viewed 1.2 million times in less than a day, and several users also shared their own experiences of drinking Celsius.

Celsius contains 300 mg of caffeine per can, three times more than a cup of regular coffee or green tea, and more than twice that of a Red Bull. Registered Dietitian Brenda Braslo says that regularly consuming high doses of caffeine increases the risk of high blood pressure and erratic heart rate, which may have been the cause of Errante’s visit to the doctor.
