Why You Should Think Twice About Ordering McDonald's Quarter Pounder
By A. C. GRIMES
As the name implies, the beef patty in McDonald’s Quarter Pounder with Cheese weighs a fourth of a pound, and according to the chain’s website, it's hot and juicy fresh meat that's "cooked when you order." Topped with onions and "tangy pickles" and seasoned with a dash of salt and pepper, the burger comes with two slices of melted cheese.
However, you might want to be careful about ordering the burger, as it comes with 510 calories, 1,150 mg sodium (half your recommended daily value), and 100 mg cholesterol (a third of your daily value). Its total fat content clocks in at 25 g (roughly a third of your daily value), including 12 g of saturated fat (60 percent of your daily value).
The Quarter Pounder with Cheese Bacon burger, on the other hand, contains 630 calories, 33 g of fat (15 saturated), 1,500 g sodium, and 120 mg cholesterol. The Quarter Pounder with Cheese Deluxe also comes with 630 calories and loads of sodium and fat — so grabbing a bigger version is actually a worse choice than ordering the smaller one.
