The 'Potato Slider' That Gordon Ramsay Is Unsure About

Chef Gordon Ramsay is not afraid to speak his mind. Especially when it comes to people's ideas of a good meal creation. However, his opinions are worth their merit. Ramsay is a holder of 7 Michelin stars which are spread globally throughout his many restaurants (via Gordon Ramsay). As well as being a best-selling author and star of such shows as "Kitchen Nightmares," "Hell's Kitchen," and "MasterChef," Ramsay knows a thing or two about putting together great culinary masterpieces as well as spotting amateur cooking disasters.

Through his TikTok, he takes his over 35 million followers on a journey to rip apart other would-be chefs as they attempt to create their own viral meals. Ranging from the absurd such as a video showing a nauseatingly sky-high deep-fried processed cheese and ham stack to his utter outraged reaction to a disturbing hotdog wellington. However, when it comes to a quick recipe for a "potato slider," Ramsay is less than impressed.

This 'potato slider' video on TikTok had Gordon Ramsay exasperated

It only took seven seconds for celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay to take down a recipe as he stood witness to a food crime in progress. In a TikTok reaction he posted on January 23, 2023, one person's burger idea had him shaking his head in despair. The video shows one solitary peeled and boiled potato being cut in half. Not a terrible start, but it's what ensues that had Ramsay thoroughly unimpressed. As the potato slice is flipped over the amateur cook then places a tiny burger patty on top, followed by a circular cut of creamy white cheese. Finally, one slice of tomato is stacked above the cheese, and the other potato patty finalizes the burger effect. After listing off the ingredients as they are being built, Ramsay exclaims "Oh, come on! Not a potato slider!"

Although potato buns are not all that uncommon. In fact, some restaurants have used this recipe which involves switching out the traditional wheat flour for starchy potato flour for quite some time. These soft buns may be more popular among industry professionals because of their longer shelf life, however, they may also be a little denser than regular burger buns, according to Goodman Fielder Food Service. But, to replace a bun with a boiled, unseasoned potato: This, Ramsay, will not abide.
