Why Sasha Banks Credits Hot Ones For Her Role In The Mandalorian
Season 2 of The Mandalorian comes out in just ten days, and we couldn't be more excited to see WWE's Sasha Banks appearance in that galaxy far, far away. So how do you get from a wrestling ring to an X-Wing? According to Banks, it involves eating a lot of hot sauce.
Banks credits her husband, Sarath Ton, with helping her land the interview that would eventually get her into the Star Wars-verse. She says the role came directly from her appearance on the interview show Hot Ones, produced by food and pop culture e-magazine First We Feast, where host Sean Evans asks celebrities a series of personal questions as they eat increasingly spicy hot wings.
"Sarath just knows everything that is cool in the world and he got that for me," the wrestler explained on WWE podcast New Day: Feel The Power (via Fightful). "If I can give a little something cool, that's how I got noticed for Star Wars. That's a little secret."
How does she feel about the role?
"It still has not hit me," Banks explained on the podcast. "It's crazy. It's frickin' Star Wars, it's insane. There's not much I can talk about it yet, but I'm in it and I'm so thankful." She went on (via Cageside Seats), "I'm so excited and I can't wait for everybody to see it. I think people are just gonna be like 'what the hell?' and I'm gonna be like, 'I know! Oh my god!' It's gonna be such — season two's gonna be so incredible. I'm just so excited, I just can't believe it. It just doesn't feel real."
We're not sure what it was about Banks' Hot Ones appearance that caught Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau's attention — whether it was her recounting the time she was the only woman facing off against "a bunch of fat, Jeff Hardy wannabes," dancing around in her bedazzled "Boss" shades, or tolerating the challenge's crazy high Scoville levels without a drop of sweat, but she's definitely a Mando-level, certified badass.
