As we creep closer and closer to the holidays, many of us have to come to terms with the fact that we will need to spend Thanksgiving isolated from our loved ones in order to keep everyone safe and healthy. According to The Atlantic, about 50 million Americans usually travel 50 miles or more to visit friends and family for the holiday, but this year, that number may fall to under half that amount. While many of us have to face the holiday alone for the first time ever, at least our favorite brands haven't forgotten about us, and Pepsi in particular has a very special product sure to liven up anyone's solo turkey day.
According to a statement sent to Mashed, Pepsi has just announced a brand new apple pie-flavored cola to celebrate the holidays and capture the flavors of the season, as well as to ease a bit of the heartbreak from not getting to spend Thanksgiving with all our loved ones. The statement says that Pepsi Apple Pie's taste resembles that of an apple pie, and features the flavors of cinnamon, buttery pie crust, and fresh apples. The product also comes just in time for those of us not brave enough to tackle baking a whole apple pie for just one person, or who have run out of energy cooking.

Pepsi has a history of creating seasonal drinks, according to Eater. The brand has sporadically rolled out winter-themed flavors like Holiday Spice Pepsi in the past. This new apple pie flavor continues the time-honored tradition and, according to a YouTube promo for the beverage, the drink can act as a stand-in for the classic Thanksgiving dessert for anyone maybe not cut out for baking. "Failing at baking — especially this year — is nothing to be ashamed of, and we're celebrating those amateur bakers that are truly trying their best during a unique holiday season," said Todd Kaplan, the Vice President Marketing of Pepsi. "With Pepsi Apple Pie, we're providing a refreshingly delicious twist on the traditional slice of apple pie, while making sure people have some fun and don't take themselves too seriously in the process."
According to the statement, Pepsi Apple Pie comes in the brand-new redesigned PepsiCo 2 liter bottles. Anyone wishing to try the drink for free can submit a video or photo of a recent baking fail using #PepsiApplePieChallenge and following the brand on Twitter or TikTok. The first 1,500 people to enter the challenge can be considered to win the drink. For anyone feeling homesick and just looking for a change of pace, the flavors of a nostalgic slice of homestyle baking wrapped up in a bottle of this new cola may tug at the heartstrings of anyone who tries it.
