The Real Reason Gordon Ramsay Hates It When People Call Him Granddad

When Gordon Ramsay doesn't like something, he always has something to say about it. Ramsay generally has something bleepable to say about things that make him upset, and being called "granddad" is one of those triggers. Says the celebrity chef in a recent interview with Men's Health UK, "The worst thing is when I'm walking with Tana and Jack, and everyone is looking at Jack as if Oscar is his son. [They say] 'You must be so proud to be a grandad.' F**k off, he's ours. If I get called 'grandad' one more f*****g time, I'm going to hit the roof" (via Delish).

While admittedly not young parents, Gordon and wife Tana Ramsay are hardly decrepit seniors, so we can understand why this might be upsetting. Oscar is the youngest of Ramsay's five children. When he was born, Gordon was 52 and his wife was 44 (via USA Today). Chef Ramsay is also famously fit, so the grand-dad mix-up shouldn't be coming from his appearance or energy. Instead, the confusion has more to do with the many branches of the Ramsay family tree, namely the son Jack.

Jack and Oscar Ramsay are decades apart

Meet Jack Ramsay, now just shy of 21 years old (via Closer Weekly). Jack is one of the elder Ramsay children along with sisters Megan, Holly, and Matilda. Considering that the older siblings are only a few years apart (Jack and Holly are also twins), baby Oscar is something of an outlier. As you can probably tell from photos, both Jack and Oscar have a definite family resemblance to their famous father too. What causes the confusion is when mom, dad, and both younger sons head out together. Because of the age difference and the closeness in looks, people think that the group spans three generations, not two.

While we can see how this misunderstanding might happen, it also makes sense that chef Ramsay wants to be called what he is – Oscar's dad. Clearly, he's over the moon about his youngest child. You can check out Oscar's very own Instagram account, dotingly started for him within days of his birth, @oscarjramsay. You'll find photos of a proud father and smiling son amidst all the baby cuteness and it's so fun to bask in this happy family. And if baby Oscar is any indication, when Gordon Ramsay gets the title grandad for real – he'll probably be equally as thrilled for the newest family edition.
