This New Dating App Wants To Pair Couples Based On Food Preferences

Are you single and sick of swiping through the same tired old dating apps without finding anyone you really click with? Are you a vegetarian or vegan and tired of your matches suggesting a steakhouse for your first date? Then Veggly just might be the solution you are looking for.

Created in October of 2018, Veggly is a unique dating app that offers vegetarians a new way to meet their soulmate. Their goal is "to help vegans, vegetarians, and aspiring vegans/vegetarians to find, match and chat to other like-minded people nearby," so if you fall into one of those categories, it might be time to ditch Tinder and Hinge and give this app a try instead.

Like most other dating apps, Veggly is a free app that users can download to see individual profiles, match with people they like, and begin chatting to see if they feel a spark. Users can also spend Veggly Coins, or credits, to send Superlikes to anyone who really catches their eye. The big difference is all of the users on the app are committed to living a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle.

Veggly has had over one million Veg-Matches

"To me, the vegan lifestyle and value system is really important in a mate. So I created Veggly to make it easier," Veggly founder Alex Felipelli explained to The Beet in 2020. And Felipelli certainly isn't alone in that belief. Veggly now has 300,000 users in over 181 countries and is currently the most popular vegan dating app worldwide.

As of February 2021, Veggly is also celebrating a milestone of over one million "Veg-Matches," many of whom have gone on to enter into relationships with one another, like Charity and Joe, two very satisfied users who met on the app. "Both of us realized that the vegan dating pool is very small and we definitely didn't expect things to turn out this well. Finding someone who is vegan is great but it obviously takes much more to fall in love and to build a good relationship. From the moment we started talking we realized how many things we have in common and how many shared interests we have," Charity said of their experience, via Veggly.

Veggly wants to help people find their "Veglentine"

"As veganism continues to surge in popularity across the world, so does the demand for herbivorous dating and relationships. So many of us want to be with someone who shares the same values and love for animals, so it's no surprise we have hit the 300,000 user mark so quickly. This milestone will strengthen our commitment to helping this community grow as much as possible. Especially as it's Valentine's Day, we will do our best to make sure every herbivore on our app finds their 'Veglentine' this year," Felipelli explained in a statement sent to Mashed.

Veggly is now offering five free Veggly coins to any new member who signs up between now and Valentine's Day. So if you avoid consuming animal products, and want to meet someone who does the same, now is the perfect time to sign up for Veggly and start planning your first plant-based date.
