Here's Why Khloé Kardashian Just Called Out Snapple

As we're all becoming more environmentally conscious and aware of toxins in our environment, some companies are getting the magnifying-glass treatment. And yes, we're looking at you Snapple. Khloé Kardashian is part of this movement to use more sustainable products, which is why she called out the popular juice company in a Feb. 19 tweet, writing, "I absolutely love @Snapple but I just found out that they're changing their packaging and they're getting rid of their glass bottles. I'm trying to get rid of single use plastic and move everything to glass/aluminum. So @Snapple is it True, no more glass?"

Users on the platform have noted that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star is late to the game in noticing this change, as the brand reportedly announced their package shift in October 2020 (via People). Still, many people agree with the sentiment. One fan wrote, "Omigod Khloe you read my mind! I love Snapple and I really want them to keep the glass bottles. It's better for us who love a cold drink that's better in a glass bottle and its good for the environment so Snapple please hear us!"

Glass vs plastic is an old and necessary debate

Sp which is truly better for you: the classic glass bottle or the indestructible plastic upgrade? Well, glass bottles are a great choice for reusable drink beverages and are naturally free of BPA, or bisphesphinol A, a common chemical used in plastic, which has a strong correlation with cancer (via Aquasauna). And while glass bottles may be healthier, they are best used as reusable, not a disposable product. Recycling glass can be costly. Instead of paying the major bucks for the glass, Snapple has been touting the benefits of its eco-friendly plastic alternative.

The company describes their new bottle as being made from 100% plastic and using 80% fewer ingredients to create, while still being able to recycle the entire package (via Snapple). Snapple estimates their new bottle uses 75% less energy to create and reduces the need for 600 million new bottles each year. By increasing their demand for recycled plastic, they provide an outlet for ocean plastic and other waste. The slimmer profile of this new bottle is also expected to reduce shipping costs, thereby reduce added CO2 in the atmosphere.

So while there may be health questions about Snapple's new look, there seem to be some strong positives in their environmentally conscious choices. Will Khloé Kardashian and her fans stick around to enjoy the classic flavors – or will this change simply be too much? Only time will tell.
