The Reason Trolli Is Trying To Bring Back This Nostalgic Social Media Platform
It's out of this world! Candy brand Trolli just debuted their new sweet and sour Trolli Sour Gummi Creations Martian Mix. The candy comes in six flavors: strawberry, blue raspberry, mango, watermelon, pineapple, and lemonade. Gummy bear shots are so yesterday — who's up for gummy aliens?
Trolli claims the new gummies (which are shaped like quirky alien heads, out-of-this-world space rings, and way-cool alien bodies) can be mixed in up to 216 wacky shape and flavor combinations. Mango space ring with a strawberry alien head and blue raspberry body, anyone? To celebrate the new launch (or landing) of the tasty Martians, Trolli is encouraging customers to hop over to that old social media stand-by, Myspace, to meet the sour travelers from another planet.
"Imagine our surprise when we landed at MySpace expecting to be right in the middle of earthlings' favorite online destination, looked around and didn't see anyone else hanging out," Martian Mix alien proclaimed (via a statement sent to Mashed). "Oh, well — I'm sure they'll show up any minute. In the meantime, we'll just hang out and wait to carry out our mission to be eaten!"
Why MySpace? Why now?
216 Trolli Martian profiles will appear on the social platform (one profile for each of the Martian Mix flavor combos). What's more, the special gummy Martian profiles will include hints that candy fans can follow for the chance to win prizes like a $5,000 trip to visit Roswell, New Mexico (one winner), a lifetime supply of Trolli products (also one winner), or two bags of the Gummi Creations Martian Mix (which will be awarded to 500 participants).
Why MySpace? Easy. Trolli chose the social media platform for the Martian Mix rollout because the believe many of their fans have fond memories of the late-90s and early-2000s – and what says turn of the century awkward-cool like MySpace?
To further the fun, Trolli also announced plans to give away 10 new Xbox Series S systems. If you'd like to try to win one of these gaming consoles, simply scan the QR code on the back of select Martian Mix bags and upload a photo of one of your fun alien combinations. For each photo you upload, you get another entry into the competition.
