The Big Problem Costco Shoppers Have With These Spicy Pickle Chips

With summer just about here, many people are starting to pull out their grills and get their palates ready for some excellent outdoor cuisine. And what goes better with a nice, juicy burger fresh from the grill than a crunchy, satisfying pickle served on the side? Costco certainly has no shortage of condiment and pickle offerings available, and they are now also selling a unique spicy pickle chip, just in time for summer. The wholesales store has added 64 ounce jars of Famous Dave's Signature Spicy pickle chips to their shelves, and they are a steal at just $5.79, according to My Wholesale Life

While they have a delectable sweet and spicy flavor and a satisfying crunch, there is one thing that Costco shoppers don't love about Famous Dave's pickle chips. The popular Instagram account @costco_doesitagain made a post about these unique pickles, but many of their followers responded expressing their disappointment over the pickle chip's high amount of high fructose corn syrup.

Costco shoppers were disappointed to find high fructose corn syrup in these pickle chips

Some shoppers felt misled by the packaging, believing the pickles would deliver more heat than sweet, so many were surprised when they bit into the chip to discover the spice was accompanied by a sugary taste. Commenting on @costco_doesitagain's post, Instagram user @hana_hpd remarked: "Ah my family loved those but they're too sweet! First ingredient is like high fructose corn syrup." "So sad there's high fructose corn syrup in these and stopped buying. So unnecessary," another disappointed follower agreed, while @mattclownlee simply posted: "Pickles don't need high fructose corn syrup. Don't buy."

However, some Costco shoppers were big fans of the taste, despite the addition of the high fructose corn syrup. "We get these ALL THE TIME........so good!!!!!" Instagram user @jamie_manzitto raved. "I always stock up on these! Put in a food processor and they are an amazing relish!!!" @senavp agreed. So if you are an adventurous eater and want to sample some pickle varieties that you have never tried before, this flavor is certainly something pleasing and unique. However, if you aren't a fan of sweet pickles, or are simply trying to watch your diet and make healthier ingredient choices, then you might want to steer clear of Famous Dave's Signature Spicy pickle chips and their added high fructose corn syrup.
