Popular Logan's Roadhouse Menu Items, Ranked Worst To Best

There are many different chain steakhouses you can choose from, but if you happen to live in the American South, you may just have Logan's Roadhouse on the top of your list of options. This laid-back steakhouse has a local vibe, and it's a spot where you can find a surprising array of dishes. It's a great place to take the family because it's pretty much guaranteed that most people will find something to love on the menu (unless they have dietary restrictions, of course — it's not so great for that, we must admit).

However, whenever you go out to dine at a place that has a super-long menu, it can be pretty difficult to choose what you want to order. We wanted to save you some of the confusion, which is why we've put together a list of some of the most popular dishes at Logan's Roadhouse and ranked them in order from worst to best. That way, you know which dishes to stay away from and which ones you're definitely going to want to check out the next time you visit.

Let's take a closer look at the Logan's Roadhouse menu. Just one warning: Prepare to get hungry reading this.

20. Grilled Meatloaf

Remember back when you were a kid and you heard that meatloaf was for dinner? If you were less than excited on those evenings, you're probably not going to want to order the grilled meatloaf. Truth be told, it's not even as good as the homemade stuff. The main issue with this sad hunk of meat is the fact that it's exceptionally dry. Sure, meatloaf is generally on the drier side, depending on the exact recipe, but this dish didn't have enough moisture in it for it to even be remotely appetizing. The fact that it was grilled gives this meat a bit of extra flavor, but there's still not enough going on for us to truly find it interesting.

The real flavor of this meal really comes in with the brown gravy, onions, and sauteed mushrooms that cover your serving of meatloaf. All those extra additions are quite delicious, but it feels like they're just there to mask the less-than-desirable quality of the meat. Meanwhile, it's all served over mashed potatoes, which also lack the kind of flavor and substance we truly want from a proper mashed potato accompaniment.

Want meatloaf? Just save your money and make some at home, because we don't think you're going to fall in love with the stuff you'll find at Logan's Roadhouse.

19. Teriyaki-Glazed Chicken

We hate to say it, but it's not easy to find a dish as boring as the teriyaki-glazed chicken you'll get at Logan's Roadhouse. This half-pound, mesquite-grilled chicken breast may be covered in glaze and a slice of pineapple, but somehow it's still incredibly bland. The teriyaki glaze is quite sweet, but it's not going to give you any flavor besides some pretty one-note sugary sweetness. We wish there were some spice to this dish or even just some more salt, but that's just not what you're going to find. And to make things even worse, the fact that they used chicken breast instead of a more-flavorful thigh or drumstick makes this dish dryer and less flavorful than it needs to be.

We love that this chicken is served with rice and pineapple, which is a great addition to any meat-forward dishes. However, if the sides are the best part of a meal you order, then you already know that you probably got the wrong thing. We would think twice before ordering this chicken if you truly want to enjoy your meal.

18. Big Ole Cheesecake

Is there anything wrong with the Big Ole Cheesecake at Logan's Roadhouse? No, not really. It's not like it's disgusting or exceptionally unappetizing. It's just really not anything special, either. And when you compare the Big Ole Cheesecake with the other options on the dessert menu, it's clear that this sweet treat is just not the way to go. This massive slice of cheesecake comes out with a graham cracker crust that's on the drier side. While it doesn't make too much of a difference, it definitely makes the cheesecake less appetizing. The cheesecake itself is nice and dense, but it doesn't pack a ton of flavor. Take a bite, and it won't feel like you're eating anything but some heavy milk.

This cheesecake is served with strawberries and whipped cream, which are probably the most flavorful part of the entire dessert. It's hard to mess up a cheesecake, but we just don't think the one offered at Logan's Roadhouse is worth your time. Just make a stop at a local bakery on your way home instead and you'll probably be a lot more satisfied with the results.

17. Half-Pound Chopped Steak

Chopped steak isn't exactly the kind of dish you would expect to find at a nice, higher-end steakhouse. That's because generally, the meat used for chopped steak isn't as good as the kind that you would get in its complete form. It's also potentially less flavorful than other steak options out there. However, if you're the kind of person who really, absolutely loves chopped steak, then you might be interested to learn that you can get some at Logan's Roadhouse. The half-pound chopped steak is a (metaphorical) ton of meat served over a bed of mashed potatoes. Just like the meatloaf, this dish is served with mushrooms, onions, and gravy all smothered on top. And while all that extra stuff is good, it's mostly just there because the meat itself isn't great.

We also think that this isn't the best possible order because it's something you could easily make for yourself at home. Instead, you may want to go for one of the better-quality steaks — or just another dish entirely. Unless you want a very average dinner with some slightly tough meat, we'd suggest forgetting about the half-pound chopped steak. You have better options waiting for you.

16. Loaded Potato Soup

It's always nice to get something small to eat and enjoy while you're waiting for your entree. And if it's feeling a bit cool outside, nothing beats a good cup of soup. That's why the loaded potato soup may be on your list of starters to try at Logan's Roadhouse. Well, we're here to tell you that this soup kind of misses the mark. It all starts with the plainest potato soup you've ever tasted — it doesn't taste like there are any seasonings in there other than salt and pepper. Then, cheese, bacon, and sour cream are all added on top of the potatoes and, while they add body, they don't add a ton of extra flavor.

As you can probably already tell, this is an incredibly heavy starter, and it will leave you feeling full before your entree even makes its way to your table. And considering that there's not much flavor there apart from the cheese and the bacon, we don't think it's worth it for you to fill up on this starter, especially if you know you have something more delicious on its way. Unless you're just looking for an aggressively plain and nutritionally incomplete lunch, we wouldn't suggest ordering the loaded potato soup.

15. Twisted Tender Sandwich

While the Twisted Tender Sandwich may not be the absolute worst dish on the menu, it still doesn't come anywhere close to the top of our list. That's because, first of all, chicken tenders are the star of the show in this entree. Let's just be honest and admit that chicken tenders aren't that good most of the time. Sure, they may be appropriate for kids or for those who really, really don't like to stray from their comfort zone when it comes to food, but for the rest of us, they're just kind of boring. Granted, in the Twisted Tender Sandwich, they don't stand all on their own, but making them into a sandwich doesn't make them significantly more interesting.

The hand-breaded chicken tenders come served with pickles and bacon ranch dressing on a bun. The tang from the pickles tastes great with the fried tenders and the ranch adds a touch of creaminess, but that's about all you're going to get from this sandwich. We wish it had some spicy heat or something to make it more interesting, but we're left with none of that. All told, this sandwich is about as basic as it can get. If you're looking for a boring, snooze-worthy meal, this chicken tender sandwich may be just what you want. Otherwise, though, check out the other sandwiches on the menu before you settle for this one.

14. All-American Cheeseburger

Sometimes, you just want to stick to the basics, and we totally get that. That's a good enough reason to order the All-American cheeseburger at Logan's Roadhouse, which is basically the definition of a standard burger. All told, it's something that's easy to order and eat, a stalwart that comes topped with all the usual burger toppings. When you order this, you get to choose from Swiss, American, or cheddar cheese to top it all off, too. Get it with a side of fries, and you have a standard classic that just about everyone loves.

That being said, the burger at Logan's Roadhouse isn't anything special. It's not bad, to be certain, but it's certainly not anything we would go out of our way to procure. And if you're looking for a burger, there are definitely better — and cheaper — restaurants you could frequent to get one that actually blows you away. However, if you just happen to find yourself at Logan's Roadhouse and you're really craving a burger, you probably won't be disappointed if you order this one.

13. 22-Ounce Porterhouse

When you really, really want to fill up at Logan's Roadhouse, what exactly should you order? We think we have the perfect solution for you and your ravenous appetite: the 22-ounce porterhouse steak. But this comes with a fair warning: This menu item is a massive steak, so you definitely shouldn't order it unless you're feeling really, truly hungry (or you want to share with someone else at the table). That's because a Porterhouse is actually two steaks in one. It combines a filet mignon, which is known for its exceptionally tender texture, with a New York strip steak, which is famous for its lovely marbling and deep, rich flavor.

Don't get us wrong, though. We love a good Porterhouse. However, is Logan's Roadhouse the best place to get one? We don't think so. Truth be told, you're probably not going to get the same quality you would expect if you were going to a higher-end steakhouse. Plus, this is just such a quantity of food that it's going to be difficult to eat the whole thing in one sitting. We'd pass it up in favor of something more reasonably sized and save our Porterhouse experience for the next steakhouse night out.

12. Coastal Carolina Shrimp

Just because you're going to a restaurant that specializes in steaks doesn't mean you absolutely have to get a big hunk of meat when you order. In fact, you may even be better off with something from the seafood portion of the menu instead. If you're looking for something slightly lighter than your typical steak or hamburger, the coastal Carolina shrimp may be on your radar. And luckily, you can get your shrimp in one of two different ways. If you want something that's really light but still flavorful, try the mesquite-grilled shrimp. On the other hand, if you're looking for something slightly more indulgent, you can get those same shrimp fried instead. That second option comes with crunchy breading.

But, despite that versatility, we think that this dish is just okay. Both the grilled and the breaded shrimp are sadly boring and they just don't pack in much flavor. Of course, you can get creative with your side dishes, but we don't think these shrimp are anything special. And shouldn't a good entree be able to stand on its own, anyway? However, these shrimp are definitely not bad, so at least they have that going for them.

11. Mesquite-Grilled Pork Chops

It may seem like beef is your only option when you make your way to a steakhouse, but that's just not the case, at least when you're at Logan's Roadhouse. If the mood strikes you, it's possible to opt for a different type of red meat as well if you want to switch things up. And we don't think you're going to be too disappointed if you opt for the mesquite-grilled pork chops. Pork is delicious-tasting meat, to begin with, but we think it's even better when it's grilled and has gotten a bit of a char and some smoky flavor. The result is pork chops that are absolutely flavorful, even though we think that these are missing out in the texture department. These are, unfortunately, a little dry, a pretty common grilled pork chop mistake.

One thing we love about this dish, though, is the fact that the pork chops are served with a side of cinnamon apples. Something about pork makes it pair perfectly with slightly sweet toppings, so we think the apples are a great choice here. They also lend some more moisture to an otherwise dry pork chop. And, if that somehow doesn't seem like enough food already, you also get the choice of two sides with this dish. This means you're definitely not going to go home feeling hungry.

10. Country-Style Buttermilk Chicken

Here's the thing: We absolutely love buttermilk chicken. If you've never made it before, you have to try it and see for yourself the glory of this dish. Just know that, instead of brining your chicken the old-fashioned way in some salt water, you can brine it in buttermilk instead. Buttermilk is salty and acidic, which will lend an incredible amount of flavor to the meat.

That's certainly what we love about the country-style buttermilk chicken at Logan's Roadhouse. It definitely has that super flavorful, slightly funky taste that comes from buttermilk chicken, and we're absolutely here for it. The brined chicken is hand-breaded before frying, which gives it a lovely crunch and some extra texture. Add the white pepper gravy on top, and it's clear why this one is a winner.

Wondering why it's not closer to the top of our list? It all comes down to the cut of meat they Logan's Roadhouse decided to use. That is, you're going to be getting some rather bland white meat chicken breasts when you order this meal. We think it would have been so much more delicious with darker thighs or drumsticks, so we were a bit disappointed. However, it's a great dish overall and, if you're looking for something on the leaner side, it may be right for you.

9. Mississippi Brownie

Sometimes, when you go out to eat, you want to end your meal with something totally delicious and indulgent. And while you may not want to eat it on a regular basis, the Mississippi brownie is absolutely perfect for those evenings out when you need a final sugar fix. Of course, it's hard to go wrong with a brownie in the first place, and the base for this dessert is super moist and just sweet enough without being overwhelming. It gets even better, though, when you find the chopped walnuts inside. It gives this brownie an extra touch of texture it wouldn't otherwise have, and we love it. For an added touch of sweetness, you'll also find marshmallows in the mix. We could have done without them and their extra sugar, but they don't affect the flavor of the dessert that much.

Oh, you thought you were done there? Think again — this brownie gets even more over the top. It's also served with vanilla ice cream that's then topped with a drizzle of chocolate and caramel sauce. So, is this brownie incredibly rich? For sure. Should you share it with other people at your table? Yes, probably. But ultimately, at least as long as you have a serious sweet tooth, this is something on the Logan's Roadhouse menu that you should definitely try.

8. Fried Cheese and Bacon Burger

When you go out to a restaurant, you may be there because you want to eat something healthy but don't want to have to cook for yourself. That's totally understandable, even laudable. But other times, you want to go out to eat because it'll give you a chance to truly indulge your cravings, health be darned (for one night, anyway). And who can blame you? If you're at Logan's Roadhouse and you want to go all out, then you can't go wrong with the fried cheese and bacon burger. Now, it's not unusual to see a burger with bacon on it, as that's a reliably great addition to an already-rich meal. But when was the last time you got fried cheese on your burger?

Naturally enough, the fried cheese is really delicious. How could it not be? Pretty much anything tastes good in fried form (including some weird fair food). It stands to reason that food as beloved as cheese, when it's made available in fried form, is going to be a big hit. Now, when the sandwich all comes together, it does feel very, very heavy, but it's delicious at the same time. We don't think we could eat a whole fried cheese and bacon burger at Logan's Roadhouse, but we think it's worth a taste for sure.

7. Peppercorn Bacon Chicken Sandwich

Want a sandwich but aren't really interested in a burger? That's when a chicken sandwich may just be your best bet. And if you order the peppercorn bacon chicken sandwich, we think you're going to be happy with the experience. It does start out with yet another bland chicken breast, which we're not too fond of, but it gets better from there. The chicken is covered in a Parmesan peppercorn dressing that's got distinct umami and salty flavor with just the slightest kick to it. We definitely wouldn't call it spicy, but it's not bland or boring either.

The chicken is great with that dressing, but when you add on the thick-cut bacon and cheese, it seriously takes this sandwich to a whole new level. It's not exactly the light, healthy sandwich you may expect when you order chicken, but it's still super tasty. And if you're on the hunt for a chicken sandwich that's far from boring, then this may just be your ideal entree at Logan's Roadhouse.

6. Southern Fried Catfish

If you haven't spent much time in the South, then you may not be aware of the culinary wonder that is catfish. Now, if you see this fish swimming around, you probably wouldn't want to even come close to it with a fork. But once it's prepared and you take a bite, you'll realize how delicious this entree really is. Don't like fish? You may still want to give catfish a try. It doesn't have a strong, fishy flavor, and the flesh is relatively mild with just a touch of sweetness. Want to try it for yourself? Just make sure to order the Southern fried catfish at Logan's Roadhouse.

This farm-raised catfish is hand-breaded with cornmeal to ensure the perfect crispy crust that complements the lightness of the fish incredibly well. The breading isn't too thick, but it definitely adds quite a bit to the texture of this dish. The catfish is also served with plenty of tartar sauce for dipping or smothering all over your meal. It's a nice touch that adds a ton of flavor and a bit of creaminess to your plate. You could go healthy and get this entree with a side salad or go all in and pair it with fries. Whatever you decide, we think you're going to love the Southern fried catfish.

5. Mesquite-Grilled Salmon Caesar

You know that feeling when your whole family wants to go out to a steakhouse but you'd rather just have a nice salad instead? The last thing you probably want to do is force yourself to eat a meal that's heavier than you really want. That's when you should turn to the salad section of the Logan's Roadhouse menu. In our opinion, the best salad on the menu is the chain's mesquite-grilled salmon Caesar salad. Why? Well, it's not every day that you see a salmon Caesar salad, so that's definitely a treat. It all starts with a bed of romaine lettuce with a creamy Caesar dressing. The salmon adds just a bit of seafood flavor but not too much, to the point where you surely won't mind even if you generally don't like fish.

While we think this salad is delicious as-is with the fish topping it, if you want to get something even more mainstream, you can certainly make that choice, too. Just ask to sub in grilled chicken, and you can have a more classic chicken Caesar salad as well. Basically, if you want something light and easy to eat instead of a steak, then this entree might just be the way to go.

4. Cookie Slider Sundae

Are you having a hard time deciding what kind of dessert to get at Logan's Roadhouse? To be fair, it can be a difficult decision. After all, with so many options for sweet treats at the restaurant, how are you supposed to know what tastes the best before you even try it all? Well, if you want our opinion, we would guide you in the direction of the cookie slider sundae. Now, first of all, you should know that this dessert is kind of over the top. It's probably not something you should order if you don't feel like going all out and disregarding your consumption of sweets.

If you are willing to take on this massive dessert, though, here's what you should know: you'll get two cookie sliders that start with two amazing chocolate chip cookies. But it doesn't end there. Inside of those sliders, instead of finding ice cream, you're going to get a fudge brownie covered in sprinkles. We told you this was indulgent. Don't assume you're going to totally miss out on the ice cream, though. These sliders are then served with vanilla ice cream and then typically topped off with both chocolate and caramel sauce.

Are you drooling yet? If you really want to get the Logan's Roadhouse dessert experience, then this sweet treat is a must-order item.

3. Country Fried Steak

When you think of a steak, the first thing that comes to your mind is probably a classic strip steak or a T-bone. What you probably don't think of is a steak that's been breaded and fried. However, we're here to tell you that at Logan's Roadhouse, the country fried steak is definitely one of the most delicious items available on the menu. Is this going to be the kind of dish you order at a nice steakhouse? No. But if you're looking for something a little more laid-back and down-home, then this is a solid option. The steak is breaded to perfection, with just enough crunch and crisp to please the palate, but not so much that it hides the actual flavor of the meat.

And if the steak itself wasn't good enough, it also comes doused in white pepper gravy. This gravy is rich and creamy, and it definitely plays well with the fried breading on the steak. It's certainly a heavy meal, so keep that in mind if you're not too hungry when you sit down and get ready to order. But if you've never had a country fried steak before and want to try something that's out of this world, then you've got to give this dish a shot.

2. Bayside Burger

Everyone likes a good surf and turf dish, right? But all too often, that takes the form of some really boring entrees. Who wants the same old, boring steak with a paltry side of shrimp that have no flavor to them? Not us. Instead, we'd rather go for something that's a bit more out of the ordinary. Wondering what that particular dish is at Logan's Roadhouse? It's none other than the towering bayside burger. Of course, the dish all starts out with a thick burger patty, just like all of the other burger options at Logan's Roadhouse. But that's when things really go off the rails. The burger is topped with popcorn shrimp for that surf and turf theme we're sticking to.

But that's not all you should expect from this burger! It also comes topped with crispy onions and a lovely, creamy Cajun sauce. Those crispy onions pack a ton of flavor, and you're going to taste them in every single bite. They also contribute even more crunch to the equation. Then, that sauce rounds things out, bringing the flavors together and adding a factor of creaminess to every bite. You're not going to find a burger like this one everywhere, so we recommend giving it a try the next time you find yourself at Logan's Roadhouse.

1. The Logan

When you visit a restaurant for the first time, it just makes sense to pick out the signature item on the menu. And if you're at Logan's Roadhouse, then that signature item is, naturally enough, The Logan. Wondering what, exactly, eating this menu item involves? To put it simply, it's just a 12-ounce sirloin. That may sound pretty basic, sure, but it's clear that the restaurant wants to make sure that this cut of meat is top-notch. Whether your steak comes out cooked to perfection all depends on who's working in the back, but we can bet you're not going to be disappointed when you order this steak.

Even though it doesn't have much fat in it, it's lean and juicy, which will have you coming back for more. And considering it's moderately sized compared to the other steaks on the menu, it seems like this one makes the most sense to order if you have an average appetite. Ready to dig in yet?
