Padma Lakshmi's Diet Is Focused On These 4 Types Of Food

Very few people have a resume that rivals Padma Lakshmi's. While the Indian-American superstar may be best known as the longtime judge and co-host of hit cooking competition "Top Chef," Lakshmi has worn many hats over the course of her lifetime. Lakshmi launched her career as a model when she was scouted while studying abroad in Spain. From there, she went on to work with some of the world's top designers including Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, and Gianni VersaceĀ and became widely recognized as one of the first Indian models with global reach (as noted by The Talko). Lakshmi credits her modeling career as helping her break into the culinary industry. "It allowed me to travel all over the world, taste the world, and explore places I never would have gotten the opportunity to go to, like France, Bali," Lakshmi shared in her 2015 Jubilee talk (via Bravo).

Today, Lakshmi is a celebrated cookbook author, 10-time Emmy nominee, and the executive producer on her own Hulu show, "Taste the Nation" (via Screen Rant). Although her schedule may be busier than most, Lakshmi still manages to squeeze in time to eat. In an interview with Esquire, the 51-year-old television personality opened up about her shifting perspective on life as she grows older, including her eating habits.

When it comes to food cravings, Padma Lakshmi has a thing for salty and crunchy goodies

When it comes to her perspective on beauty, Padma Lakshmi firmly believes that we are what we eat. "Beauty comes from what you put into your body, not just on your skin," the Indian-born star shared with Vogue. At 51-years-old, Lakshmi's diet primarily consists of four major types of food, which are mostly plant-based: fruits, vegetables, basic carbohydrates, and lean proteins, perĀ Yahoo. On top of that, Lakshmi pairs her healthy meals with plenty of water, as well as a "secret" juice. Every morning, the "Top Chef" star starts her day with a smoothie featuring kale, spinach, carrots, beet, ginger, and turmeric. Sounds revitalizing and refreshing, Padma!

While Lakshmi has an everyday food routine that she likes to stick to, there are certain foods that she will always make an exception for. According to Glamour, there are a few foods that the former model is "powerless" around including pizza, and salt and vinegar chips. "Anything salty, or crunchy, or both," she revealed. "I also make this fried chicken that is impossible to dislike, with cayenne and green mango powder in the batter. It's crusty, hot, and sour."
